Central Accumulation Area (CAA) Training (ENV216)

Introduction

Welcome to Sandia National Laboratories’ (SNL) ENV216 eLearning. This course is an annual requirement for all employees and non-employees who own, operate, or work in a Central Accumulation Area (CAA) at SNL. 

The goal of this training is to provide personnel with the information necessary to establish, operate, and close a hazardous waste Central Accumulation Area at SNL in compliance with applicable regulations. The course consists of multiple interactive modules and an end-of-course exam. Participants must successfully pass the end-of-course exam with an 80% score or higher. Trainees not receiving an 80% or higher on the final exam will be given the chance to review course material before retaking the exam. 

The objectives of this course are that, upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

  1. Identify the requirements for establishing, operating, and closing a CAA 
  2. Identify CAA container accumulation and labeling requirements 
  3. Describe time limits for hazardous waste accumulation in a CAA 
  4. Describe CAA inspection requirements 
  5. Identify training requirements 
  6. Identify documentation requirements 
  7. Describe emergency preparedness and prevention requirements 
  8. Understand the purpose of the contingency plan and quick reference guide 
  9. Describe roles and responsibilities of CAA personnel
